How to Foster

Every dog we save starts in a foster home.

Why Foster?

Foster families provide temporary homes for abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs while they await permanent adoption. It is very rewarding to see unwanted dogs transform into healthy, loving family members.

We cover all medical expenses, food, and monthly preventatives. Crates are provided if needed. You provide the love, socialization, and a safe space for them to heal and grow.

Foster Responsibilities
Provide daily care, socialization, and family integration
Offer basic training and household manners
Transport dogs to veterinary and training appointments
Meet with prospective adopters for introductions
Attend rescue events when possible
Eligibility
Must be at least 18 years old
Pass a veterinary check confirming current pets are vaccinated, altered, and on preventive care
Complete a phone interview
Pass a home visit

Screening time varies with volunteer availability; scheduling the home visit is usually the longest step.

Support System

A dedicated foster coordinator provides ongoing guidance and troubleshooting throughout your fostering experience. If a placement doesn't work out, let your coordinator know as early as you can so we can arrange to relocate the dog. You are never alone in this journey.
